Royal Commission have shared ‘Hard To Defend’, taken from the forthcoming debut album ‘Into Rock ‘n Roll’ releasing September 24th.

The new track is a quieter rumination on the sort of character you find in small towns and toxic workplaces. “You know that guy who claims to know all your business but hardly ever speaks to you? They get ‘the full story’ off someone who wasn’t even there and they love to tell you all about it!”

The line ‘I wish you all the love that you want back’ is particularly poignant. “It’s kind of feeling simultaneously annoyed by their attitude and a little sad for their projection. Your (supposed) story is all they have.”

Gran Fenwick
Toronto’s Gran Fenwick is back with a brand new single and video, invoking 90s alternative rock and psychedelic Britpop in the groovy, fuzzed-out bliss and addictive melodies of “Suicide Sugar” (featuring guest vocals from newcomer, Makinz).

The video is a ton of fun, winking at late 90s house party performance video tropes and riffing on some Buffy the Vampire Slayer-esque campy blood-lust.

Méli Jane
Following the release of her single Aura, French-born, Montreal-based singer-songwriter Méli Jane unveils the song’s official music video, a cinematic visual inspired by summer flings, cottage escapes, wildflower fields, and the intoxicating feeling of falling for someone despite knowing they may never fully give you what you’re searching for.

Inspired by the female singer-songwriters of the late 1990s and early 2000s, Aura blends folk-pop warmth with dreamy nostalgia, capturing the moment when reason quietly gives way to feeling.

Kurtys Kidd
“Out On The Spiral Arm” is the first track off of his upcoming full-length album This Dirty Machine. The kickoff single gives a nod to grunge and other 90s alt styles, as well as a more modern take on alternative rock. The new music promises gritty guitar and emotional songwriting throughout the album.

“‘Out On The Spiral Arm’ is a song about isolating yourself because you’re hurt, but then finding out that wherever you go you can find love if you open yourself to it,” Kurtys says of the new single. “Love is all around us in this universe – but you have to be open to it to receive it.”

Baby’s First Pistol
Baby’s First Pistol are dropping a new single just in time for their first album release. “Confessional” caps off their debut full-length Affirmation Celebration. It’s a steamy fast n’ furious portrayal of a lurid closed-quarters encounter where all is bared and souls are redeemed. It’s a not-so-gentle reminder that even when no one is watching, someone is watching.

Affirmation Celebration is 11 tracks of nihilist post-hardcore disco. Songs that threaten to flay the skin off your bones and expose the meaty bits for the camera.Affirmation Celebration is available on CD August 21 via Cartridge Heart.
